Abstract: When students talk about university, one of the often elusive but most fondly remembered opportunities is study abroad. It is considered cost prohibitive and, with international flights, can exclude students for a variety of reasons. This, compounded with the global COVID-19 pandemic, required revisiting the purpose of a study abroad experience and adapting that to a study away adventure. This article shares the experiences of this inclusive alternative to study abroad and the multicultural perspectives with which students engaged during their summer study away.
